April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player in the US is part of a select set of females who've had medals won in several Olympics. She is set to compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman who is a first-time Olympian. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic Gold. As she is 39 and has a long way to go, this could be her final chance. However, she's confident that the top awards are in reach. Ross was quoted on NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your best, even if you perform well, you will win the gold. So I'm going to take the chance too. Ross born the 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She lived there together with her parents. Ross went on to play in numerous sports in Newport Harbor High School. As a pre-schooler she was a participant in indoor volleyball along with basketball and running track. However, she was a standout at this level. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter in the court for volleyball, according to her college bio. She was awarded the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999 for her achievements. Her volleyball skills also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross has been working with Klineman from 2017, but Ross's beach game was established well before the year. In fact, she won several major championships while playing using two partners, one of whom is an icon of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Together with Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international circuit winning a world title in 2009. They took home a Silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team that was the winners of the 2012 Olympics in London, beat them out to win the gold medal. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. In 2016, the duo were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning the start of her professional career. She played during high school and in before hitting the beaches as a professional. This was an impressive run for Ross at the university. In 2000, she was voted Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans get to the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated by a tragic incident in her sophomore year. However, she went on to be an All-American once more. During her final two seasons with the Trojans team they won victories by winning successive national titles. In her own way, she cemented her place as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the most outstanding female volleyball players at colleges across the country. Ross majored in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter make it to the top in beach volleyball. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. However, she keeps her parent close to the heart. Margie is a beach lover as well as in everyday life, continues to inspire her.
