Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She has written fifteen books and is the cofounder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an author, television personality, philanthropist as well as the owner and publisher of The Huffington Post. Her move out of Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and obtained a MA at Cambridge University in Economics. The first non-English student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Then she became an author for a conservative newspaper after her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a couple of years following, she launched an online platform for voice with a critique of current politics. In part, her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna became famous after she made the decision in 2003 to become an Independent candidate in the California Recall Election to replace the former governor Davis. She was also involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes declared her to be one of the "most powerful woman" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. In 2012, she became the President of the AOL media group. It was comprised of several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant. While she was close to her father, her connection to her mom was the defining factor in the course of her entire life. As a child she displayed leadership qualities which she is still renowned for. When she was 16 years old, she moved over to the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined Cambridge Union, a college debating club. Being the third woman president, and also the first foreigner she held the position of head of the Cambridge Union. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of master's in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a critic for a newspaper column and an anchor on TV.
